Market competition in the international market is very harsh. Export projects
bear a number of risks that may not be always obvious and may be reduced by
appropriate collateral. As the Croatian export credit agency, HBOR introduced a
number of export credit insurance instruments enabling entrepreneurs-exporters
to reduce and share risks.
Beside the programmes intended for exporters, HBOR offers the possibility of
export credit insurance to commercial banks and financial institutions.
What can be insured?
HBOR generally insures non-marketable risks, but it can also insure those
risks for which there is no sufficient insurance offer in the private insurance
market. In this way, HBOR as the Croatian export credit agency supplements the
existing market offer in line with the European Commission regulations.
Marketable risks are commercial and political risks of public and private
debtors with the seat in a member country of the European Union or Australia,
Iceland, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, USA or Switzerland. The duration of
such risks, including the production period, does not exceed two years. Other
risks are deemed to be non-marketable risks.
