OUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY

Through its operations, HBOR supports systematic, sustainable and balanced economic and social development. When developing our finance programmes and special loan terms and conditions as well as when establishing our target groups, we pay special attention to balanced social development and environmental protection.

We are aware of the multiple impacts we have on our clients, partners and wider community as a financial institution, and we are aware of the responsibilities that arise from the role of a development and export bank.
In accordance with the 2025-2029 Business Strategy of HBOR, sustainability has been recognised as one of the fundamental prerequisites for business operations. The sustainability of HBOR's business operations is based on three key pillars: responsible attitude towards environment, society and long-term financial stability.
During the strategic period, HBOR will systematically integrate ESG factors into all phases of its business and decision-making processes to strengthen the resilience of the economy and encourage the investments that support green transition.

membership in UN global compact

Besides implementing the guidelines of the Croatian Government, abiding by laws, regulations and professional standards, HBOR joined the Croatian network of UN Global Compact (UNGC) in 2007. By signing the agreement, we have obliged ourselves to promote the 10 UN Global Compact Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption and to publish regular Communications on Progress. We incorporate the UNGC principles into our business strategy, corporate culture and business activities and we contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. Our progress in implementing the principles can be followed through our regular sustainability reports.
