The BestInvest 2026 conference organised for the sixth consecutive year by the Croatian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (CVCA) gathered leading investors, representatives of venture capital and private equity funds as well as entrepreneurs that actively shape investment and innovation ecosystem in Croatia.

Alan Herjavec, Member of the Management Board of HBOR, addressed participants in his introductory speech, emphasizing the importance of continuous growth of capital market development as one of the key prerequisites for long-term development and sustainable economic growth.
“In recent years we have witnessed significant development of venture capital and private equity market in Croatia, which nowadays become more dynamic and attractive. HBOR has had a clear role in this business segment from the very beginning - not only to participate, but to contribute actively to its development“, emphasized Herjavec.

He reminded that HBOR had invested more than 130 million euros in 11 funds so far that nowadays manage capital in excess of half a billion euros, which had enabled around 250 investments in Croatian companies, primarily in the technology, healthcare and industry sectors, as well as in the high-added value services. “Our goal was to launch a market that would have its own dynamics - and we succeeded in that, as confirmed by examples of our companies that were successfully listed on the stock exchange last year“, pointed out Herjavec.

When talking about further steps, Herjavec emphasized that HBOR continued actively to develop capital market through new initiatives and financial instruments. He particularly highlighted the continuation of the CROGIP programme in cooperation with the European Investment Fund (EIF), which had secured additional 52 million euros, as well as HBOR’s participation in the preparation of strategic framework for the capital market development in the Republic of Croatia for the period 2025 - 2030.

In addition, HBOR is actively involved in the implementation of the so-called sandbox initiative, which provides entrepreneurs with an opportunity to go through a simulation of financing through a capital market, as well as with the establishment of a pre-IPO fund, the purpose of which is to prepare domestic companies to make a step towards the stock exchange.

The BestInvest conference this year once again confirmed the importance of private equity and venture capital investments as key drivers of innovation, growth and internationalisation of Croatian companies.

At the gala dinner, awards for the best investments in 2025 were also given, whereby projects in the categories of private equity and venture capital investments, as well as the most successful investors and entrepreneurs who contribute to the development of the domestic capital market, were awarded.
