Hrvoje Čuvalo, President of HBOR’s Management Board, participated in the Annual Meeting of the International Development Finance Club (IDFC) in Washington, during which, by consensus of all members, he was re-elected as a member of the Steering Group.

This is an important international recognition for HBOR and further confirms its role in shaping global development policies and financial initiatives, thus placing it alongside the world's leading development institutions.

Mr Serge Ekue, President at West African Development Bank - BOAD, has been elected as Co-Chair, and, beside HBOR and BOAD, the Steering Group also includes the leaders of the following development institutions: Agence Française de Développement- AFD (France), Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau - KfW (Germany), Cassa Depositi e Prestiti - CDP (Italy), Bancoldex (Colombia), Brazilian Development Bank - BNDES (Brazil), Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean - CAF (Latin America), Development Bank of Southern Africa - DBSA (South Africa), Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion - CDG (Morocco), Japan International Cooperation Agency - JICA (Japan), Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector - ICD (Saudi Arabia), China Development Bank - CDB (China), Türkiye Sınai Kalkınma Bankası - TSKB (Turkey).

The topics of the discussion at the Annual Meeting included the future strategies and activities of the IDFC, with a special focus on climate finance, sustainable development and strengthening the role of public development banks.

HBOR has been a member of the IDFC since its establishment in 2011 and is a signatory of the Joint Declaration by the world’s public development banks signed in Paris in 2020. Representatives of HBOR participate actively in working groups of the IDFC, and additional cooperation has been realised by the secondment of HBOR’s Management Board Advisor to temporary work on an IDFC project.
In addition to the above, Mr Čuvalo participated in the KfW meeting organised after the Annual Meeting of the IDFC and had several bilateral meetings, among others, with the representatives of the Polish Development Bank (BGK).
