The President of HBOR's Management Board Hrvoje Čuvalo and the Mayor of the City of Split Tomislav Šuta signed a loan contract for the construction of a public multi-level parking garage in Perivoj Ana Roje in Sućidar. This is an important project of Split's urban infrastructure that will contribute to solving the problem of lack of parking spaces and improving the quality of public space.

The project includes the construction of a public garage with arranged vehicle and pedestrian access, parking spaces, traffic signals and all necessary installations. The new garage will have a capacity of 600 parking spaces for cars and seven spaces for motorcycles, arranged on four floors. The building will include a market on the ground floor, and on the roof, there will be a children's playground, sports facilities and green areas.

The total value of the investment is around EUR 14 million, while the loan in the amount of EUR 9.5 million is financed in equal proportions from the European Regional Development Fund and HBOR, through the Urban Development Fund programme, which enables the realisation of a capital rebate, i.e. the write-off of part of the loan principal. The repayment period is 25 years, including a one-year grace period, while the expected capital discount is 20 percent, which will further reduce the investment cost for the City of Split.

“I am glad that we are signing a contract for a project that represents an important step forward in the development of the urban infrastructure of Split. The construction of a public garage in Sućidar not only solves the problem of the lack of parking spaces, but also creates prerequisites for a better arrangement of public space and a more functional organisation of traffic in one of the most populated parts of the city“, said the President of HBOR Management Board Hrvoje Čuvalo, emphasizing that it is precisely such projects that best demonstrate the purpose of the Urban Development Fund, whose goal is to support public sector projects that simultaneously solve specific urban development challenges and create new value for citizens.
By the construction of the garage, new parking facilities for the citizens of Sućidar and the surrounding city districts will be created, and the quality of public space will be further improved. The project combines traffic, communal, social and green functions, thus making the garage much more than an infrastructural object intended exclusively for parking.

“This is the first project of the City of Split financed through this type of financial instrument, which allows us to make significant savings and reduce pressure on the city budget. We expect savings of around three million euros, and the financial sustainability of the project will be ensured by revenues from parking fees and the lease of the market facilities. We expect the entire project to be completed by the beginning of 2027, thus ensuring the implementation of one of the most important infrastructure projects for Sućidar. We thank HBOR for the cooperation and we would like to have more projects like this to further relieve the budget", said Tomislav Šuta, the Mayor of the City of Split.

HBOR is a long-standing partner in the development of Split-Dalmatia County. In the last ten years, HBOR has supported more than 2,500 projects in the County with a total value of more than EUR 770 million, with 78 percent of the approved funds relating to investment projects.

The first HBOR regional office was opened exactly in Split, marking the beginning of the development of a network of regional offices that enabled even closer cooperation with entrepreneurs and local and regional government units throughout Croatia.
