The Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, is re-introducing the Measure for Entrepreneurs in Wood Processing and Furniture Production Industry, which enables entrepreneurs in the wood processing industry access to more favourable and affordable loans and to co-finance of insurance premiums. The goal of the Measure is to solve the problem of insolvency and to facilitate access to finance for entrepreneurs in the wood processing industry.
The measure was successfully implemented twice: in 2020 and 2024, based on which EUR 35 million in loans have been approved so far and a total of EUR 2.35 million in subsidies have been paid out. Entrepreneurs operating in the above sectors will once again be given access to subsidised interest rates on loans for the entire duration of the loan and to co-financed loan insurance premiums in accordance with state aid regulations.
“The wood processing and furniture production industries are the sectors with a long tradition in Croatia, strong export potential and the possibility for further technological advancement. With the Measure, we want to provide entrepreneurs more favourable and easier access to the capital they need to modernise production, increase productivity and strengthen competitiveness in international markets,” stressed Hrvoje Čuvalo, President of the Management Board of HBOR.
“The Measure represents a continuation of successful cooperation with HBOR aimed at strengthening the sustainability of strategically important economic activities of wood processing and furniture production. Through this synergy, with the amount of EUR five million, we are subsidising the interest rate and the insurance premium, thus enabling access to more favourable and affordable loan terms and conditions in order to help our entrepreneurs preserve their liquidity and investment activities,” said David Vlajčić, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and Deputy Prime Minister.
Lending will, as before, be carried out directly through HBOR under the existing loan programmes: Private Sector Investment and Working Capital as well as indirectly through commercial banks. The maximum individual loan amount is EUR 1,000,000.00, i.e. EUR 500,000.00 for working capital, with a repayment period of up to 10 years depending on the purpose and structure of the investment, i.e. up to 3 years for working capital.
The Measure comes into effect today.
